Service overview

## uPVC Window Installation Explained

### What the service is
We survey your home, measure every opening, supply new uPVC windows and fit them, then make good around the frames. You deal with the same family team from the first visit to the final check, not a salesperson followed by a different fitting crew.

### Who it is for
Homeowners in Hartlepool and the surrounding towns who want warmer rooms, windows that open and lock properly, and a fixed price before any work starts. It suits a single replacement window just as well as a full house.

### When it is needed
When frames are rotten, warped or cracked, when windows will not close flush or lock, when several units have misted, or when you are simply tired of cold spots and condensation around old glazing. If only the glass has misted, a glass unit replacement may be enough, and we will tell you so.

### Why professional fitting matters
A window is only as good as its installation. An opening measured wrongly, a frame that is not packed square, or poor sealing around the edge lets in water and draughts no matter how good the window itself is. Fitting is where most of the long-term performance is won or lost.

The cost of waiting

## What Happens If You Leave It

- Heat escapes through failed frames and single or old glazing, so the heating works harder for the same comfort.
- Gaps around the frame let wind-driven rain in, which can mark plaster, rot timber sills and encourage mould.
- Windows that will not lock properly are an easy point of entry and may cause problems with home insurance.
- Hinges and mechanisms under strain on a warped frame tend to fail completely, often at the worst moment.

### Common mistakes to avoid

- Choosing purely on the lowest headline price without knowing exactly what is included.
- Agreeing to a quote that changes once the work has started.
- Replacing whole windows when only the sealed glass unit has failed.
- Using an installer who cannot explain who is responsible if something goes wrong later.

Our process

## Five Clear Steps
01

### Free survey
David visits, looks at every window you are thinking about and listens to what you want to fix: cold, noise, security or appearance.

02

### Measure & advise
Each opening is measured and checked. You get straight advice on what needs replacing and what does not.

03

### Fixed-price quote
You receive one clear, fixed price. No pressure and no obligation to go ahead.

04

### Fitting
Old windows come out, new uPVC windows go in, packed, fixed and sealed, then made good around the frame.

05

### Check & guarantee
Every window is opened, closed and locked with you before we leave. Windows and frames carry a 10-year manufacturer guarantee.

What you get

## The Benefits

### Warmer rooms
New sealed windows, fitted tight to the opening, cut the draughts that make rooms feel cold even with the heating on.

### Better security
Windows that close flush and lock properly remove one of the easiest ways into a house.

### Long-term cover
A 10-year manufacturer guarantee on windows and frames, plus 12 months on hardware such as hinges, locks and handles.

### Price certainty
A fixed-price quote means the figure you agree is the figure you pay.

### Low upkeep
uPVC does not need sanding or painting. A wipe down keeps frames looking clean.

### One point of contact
You speak directly to David, the person responsible for the job, from survey to finish.

In detail

## Everything To Know About uPVC Window Installation

### uPVC as a window material
uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) is the most common window frame material on UK homes. It is rigid, it does not rot, and it does not need repainting the way timber does. Frames are made from multi-chambered profiles, which helps them hold their shape and adds to their insulating performance.

Because the colour runs through the material or is applied as a finish, uPVC frames keep their appearance with very little maintenance. A periodic clean of the frames and drainage slots and a little lubricant on moving parts is usually all that is needed.

### Common window styles
Casement windows are hinged at the side or top and open outwards. They are the most common style on houses across Hartlepool and Teesside and suit most openings.

Tilt and turn windows open inwards in two ways: tilted at the top for ventilation, or swung fully open for cleaning and escape. They are popular for upstairs rooms and flats.

Fixed lights do not open at all and are often combined with opening sashes in a larger frame. The right combination depends on the room, ventilation needs and how you use the space. During the survey we talk through what is sensible for each window.

### Double glazing, explained simply
Double glazing uses two panes of glass separated by a sealed gap. The gap slows heat moving through the window and also reduces outside noise. The sealed glass unit sits inside the uPVC frame.

If that seal ever fails, moisture gets into the gap and the glass mists between the panes. That is a glass unit problem, not necessarily a frame problem, and it can often be fixed without replacing the whole window. See our misted glass unit page for more.

### How installation affects performance
When an old window comes out, the opening is checked before the new frame goes in. The frame is set level and square, packed so it does not distort, fixed back to the structure and sealed around the outside. Inside, the frame is finished neatly against the wall.

Each of these steps matters. A frame fixed out of square can cause sashes to drag, locks to stop lining up and seals to wear early. Taking care at this stage is what makes the guarantee meaningful rather than a piece of paper.

### Replacing one window or a whole house
Some customers replace a single failed window, others do the whole property at once or in stages. Each approach is quoted the same way: free survey, then a fixed price for exactly the windows you want done.

If you are working to a budget, we can help you decide which windows are the priority, for example a rotten bedroom frame or a window that no longer locks, so the most important work happens first.

## Your Guarantee

- Windows, window frames and door frames carry a 10-year manufacturer guarantee.
- Replacement hardware such as hinges, locks and handles carries a 12-month manufacturer guarantee.

What guarantee comes with new windows?Windows and frames carry a 10-year manufacturer guarantee, glass units 5 years, and hardware such as hinges, locks and handles 12 months.
